In 2022, BORG Automotive has again been assessed by Ecovadis, the world’s largest and most reliable provider of sustainability ratings. The result: Compared to the previous year, the leading independent remanufacturer of automotive spare parts in Europe was able to improve its rating once again and was awarded bronze status. The rating also provided ideas for further improvements, which BORG Automotive is now putting into practice.

Remanufactured alternators, A/C compressors, EGR valves, turbochargers, steering pumps, steering racks, starters and brake calipers from BORG Automotive already contribute to a responsible use of resources and the avoidance of emissions: Compared to new original spare parts, their production requires considerably less raw materials and energy and generates significantly lower amounts of CO2.
Beyond this, BORG Automotive is pursuing the goal of meeting its high standards in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in the company’s internal management and production processes. To make this policy transparent, the company undergoes an annual assessment by Ecovadis.
The results for 2022 are now available: In the combined assessment of the four evaluation criteria “environment”, “labour and human rights”, “ethics” and “sustainable procurement”, BORG Automotive was able to improve by several points compared to 2021 and once again secured bronze status.
The company achieved the best rating in the environmental category. Here, Ecovadis identified the definition of quantitative targets and measures for the reduction of raw material and water consumption, use of chemicals, energy use, emission of greenhouse gases and waste production as particular strengths.
“The current rating shows that we are on the right track in terms of corporate social responsibility and sustainability. We are very pleased with the bronze status, but we do not take it as an opportunity to rest on our laurels,” explains Sten Højland, Director of Compliance at BORG Automotive Group. “Our aspiration for ourselves is to constantly improve – and we still have some way to go before we reach silver or gold.”
Sten Højland adds, “The big advantage of the Ecovadis rating is that it not only makes trends visible over a longer period of time and reveals the current status. Within the framework of the rating, Ecovadis also indicates the areas in which we can still improve. This year, we have again received a list of suggestions that we will now successively review and, if possible, put into practice.”
