The decision to reshore activities from Southeast Asia to Europe came in light of the global component shortage experienced throughout 2021. Astrata says that the move will shorten delivery times and cut logistical risks as part of its mitigation plans.

The company was searching for a strong local electronics manufacturing partner to supply its customers in the long-term, while also optimising its supply chain and meeting the performance goals it set for itself for 2022.
As a major player in automotive manufacturing, Bosch boasts a sturdy supply chain thanks to its many resources such as its purchasing teams and advanced electronic warehousing capabilities. Astrata says the deal enables it to make improvements to the flexibility and scalability of its supply chain in order to meet global demand.
The five-year partnership is for the manufacturing of Astrata’s advanced fleet management system for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and light commercial vehicle hardware. Bosch will now carry out Astrata's entire European production at its Mondeville site in Normandy, France.
Marius van den Berg, SVP Engineering and Technology at Astrata, said: "We are very proud and honoured to have partnered up with Bosch, recognised as being one of the world’s leading electronic automotive manufacturers, to meet our customers’ rapidly growing demand for advanced telematics solutions at scale."
