RETAL Cyprus is an important facility for RETAL Industries, which owns and operates 13 facilities across Europe and North America. As the head office location and a 2700 sq ft facility, Limassol is home to both the local production of PET preforms and bottles and the key decision making for the group.

Founded in 2015, RETAL Cyprus today employs 30 people. Supplying over 93% of Cyprus’s plastic packaging requirements for food and beverage customers, most of the major mineral water brands choose RETAL Cyprus. General manager Litsa Damianou explains, “Our modern facility has gained various quality certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 1400, the ISO 4500 for health and safety, and the FSSC 2200. The team is very proud of how efficiently and effectively we manage the factory, there’s a strong, positive attitude and we can be flexible depending on the needs of our customers.”
Damianou was promoted to general manager from her previous role as production manager at the facility, having joined RETAL Cyprus when it started, alongside the previous general manager Mr. Hagai Golan, who retired in October 2023. Damianou says, “I’m sure everyone here will agree that the positive attitude we’re known for is thanks to the great influence of Hagai. I am a student of Hagai; we both joined at the start, and he has been a great mentor to me and many others here. I am sure that I can continue to build RETAL Cyprus as he did.”
The plans to continue to build RETAL Cyprus include extending the blowing capabilities at the facility in addition to maintaining its current preform production. Damianou explains, “We have strategically decided to expand our blowing capabilities as we already have the space to make this happen, plus it allows us to stay within our sustainability targets as this uses less power, which is crucial for us as both an island and as a multinational company committed to reducing our environmental impact.”
Complete packaging solution
RETAL Cyprus offers a complete packaging solution (closures are available from another European RETAL facility) for its customers across the island of Cyprus, where it is well known locally as both an employer and a supplier of plastic packaging. It also supplies directly to beverage customers in Israel, with its expansion plans focused on key territories.
Damianou notes, “We’re especially keen to develop our presence further in the fast-growing bottled mineral water and dairy sectors in North Africa as we already have the infrastructure in place to produce and deliver the right products. We can produce whatever our customers need! We have the advantage of agility and the support of our multinational group, so the answer is always yes.” With the technical capabilities, positive attitude and established business all in place, the legacy of Mr. Hagai Golan is clearly in safe hands.
