The French multinational corporation is a global specialist in a variety of construction, high-performance, and other materials, and is continuing to optimise its business portfolio in line with its Grow & Impact strategic plan, which is designed to accelerate the Group’s profitable growth.
Following several acquisitions completed earlier this year, last week the company signed an agreement to acquire Fibroplac, a well-recognised company in the Portugual for the high quality of its production of gypsum plasterboards, and Falper, a Portuguese developer of advanced digital solutions for the design and manufacturing of light steel structures.

With a joint turnover of around €15 million, these two acquisitions will reinforce and accelerate the strong growth of Saint-Gobain in Portugal, where it has 10 factories as well as a technical development centre in Aveiro.
Also last week, Saint-Gobain entered into an agreement to acquire Kaycan, a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of exterior building materials in Canada and in the United States.
With this acquisition, Saint-Gobain is becoming the top siding player in Canada and enlarging its vinyl offer across the United States with complementary solutions including notably aluminium and engineered wood.

On the other side of the scale, as part of Saint-Gobain’s continued business profile optimisation strategy, the group agreed to sell its glass processing businesses Eckelt Glas and Glas Ziegler in Austria to the privately-owned German group AEQUITA, as well as its holding in the co-venture Glaskontor Erfurt – a glass processing business in Germany – to the CALEOGLAS Group.
The closing of all these transactions is expected by summer 2022. Together, these businesses generated sales of around €55 million in 2021 and employ more than 320 people.
One of the objectives of the Group's strategic plan and the current business optimisation is to maximise the positive impact that the Group brings to its customers while minimising its own environmental footprint.
