The B2B events organiser UBM has acquired The Battery Show Europe and co-located Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe from UK-based Smarter Shows.
Through this acquisition UBM – now part of Informa, the world’s leading B2B events organiser, has increased its coverage of advanced battery technology and strengthens its position in the energy storage market in Europe.
The acquisition follows on from 2016, when UBM acquired The Battery Show, North America’s largest advanced battery technology event with co-located Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo and Critical Power Expo.
“The Battery Show Europe acquisition aligns with our strategy to focus on investment in high growth opportunities,” said Lucy Dimes, CEO, UBM EMEA.
She added, “We can now provide our customers with expanded access to cutting-edge manufacturing, battery supply chain technologies and solutions, and opportunities to establish new business connections at a global scale.”
“The addition of The Battery Show Europe to the UBM events portfolio further establishes the company in a space with tremendous opportunity,” said Lori Silva, Managing Director, Advanced Manufacturing Group, UBM Americas. “This is an exciting vertical for UBM and complements our existing presence in renewable and energy-related markets, including MIREC, AIREC, Renewable Energy India Expo, our renewable energy event series in Southeast Asia and of course The Battery Show North America.”
The Battery Show Europe is a showcase for the latest manufacturing solutions from across the battery supply chain to industries including automotive, utilities, renewable energy, grid, power tools and electronics.
The show is a place where manufacturers and service providers can source the latest energy storage solutions, learn how to reduce manufacturing costs, and ensure optimum efficiency and performance of battery applications.
In addition, The Battery Show Europe is co-located with Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, a European exhibition and conference for electric, hybrid and plugin hybrid vehicle technology. The 2019 edition of The Battery Show Europe will take place May 7–9 in Stuttgart, Germany.
