The high-tech company TRUMPF takes over the laser manufacturer AMPHOS with effect from January 9, 2018, thereby strengthening its product and technology portfolio in laser technology.
Founded in 2010 as a spin-out of the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) and the RWTH Aachen University, the company develops and produces ultra-short pulse lasers with high output power for applications in industry and science. Ultrashort pulse lasers are particularly common in electronics production, where they are used for example in the manufacture of printed circuit boards, displays and coverslips.
At the heart of the AMPHOS laser is the so-called InnoSlab technology, which was co-developed by the founders of the company during their time at the ILT and with which TRUMPF opens up new parameter diversity for its ultra-short pulse lasers. AMPHOS is located in the Technology Park Herzogenrath near Aachen; Silence has been agreed on the purchase price.

"AMPHOS is an innovative laser manufacturer and market leader in this technology field. The management has more than 15 years experience in the development of industrial lasers. With InnoSlab technology, we are further expanding TRUMPF's technology leadership, "says Christian Schmitz, Managing Director of TRUMPF Lasertechnik.
AMPHOS develops ultrashort pulse lasers covering a power range from 200 to 400 watts. For scientific applications, the company offers high-power lasers with up to 1.5 kilowatts of laser power.
"Just like AMPHOS, TRUMPF is a highly innovative company and is valued for its laser expertise," explain the three founders and managing directors of AMPHOS GmbH Claus Schnitzler, Torsten Mans and Jan Dolkemeyer.
