During the XXVII Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdroj, the president of NEWAG SA Zbigniew Konieczek was, in the presence of Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, honoured with the title 'Man of the Year' for his exceptional attitude and accomplishments which have had a positive impact on the economic affairs of central and eastern Europe. During this time, Mr Konieczek signed an agreement with Mr Jerry Bochyński, vice-president of the Sądecki Foundation, to fund a scholarship for the most talented young people from the Sądecki subregion.
The purpose of the scholarship will be to support young people in difficult financial circumstances and to promote the talents of young, creative people who want to develop themselves further. Zygmunt Berdychowski was the initiator of the fund in 1992. His patrons, the brothers Jan and Stanislaw Potocki from Rdziostowa, were chosen deliberately as they had been responsible for transforming the village of Białystok at the turn of the 20th century.
This is not the only scholarship that NEWAG provides for talented youth. At the beginning of this year, it funded the Prodesse in posterum scholarship for students of Cracow University of Technology. This scholarship programme is intended to support the most talented and most involved students in the field of Management and Production Engineering, specialising in Mass Transit Manufacturing.
