At this year's Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE), Siemens Logistics is presenting its latest technologies for efficient baggage handling processes. The focus is on flexible automation solutions, intelligent software, and resource-saving service concepts that make airport operations more efficient and sustainable.

New, cloud-based software portfolio
The new, cloud-based Aviation Platform from Siemens Logistics integrates airport IT systems into a high-availability, open and yet consistently cybersecure collaborative IT environment. It achieves an unprecedented level of data consistency across the entire ecosystem, creating synchronicity and transparency. This optimizes operational processes, reducing the number of delayed baggage arrivals, for example.
The platform includes Siemens Logistics’ latest baggage process modules such as Arrival & Departure and Connectivity & Collaboration. These applications can be adapted to specific requirements; they increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance passenger experience. The latest solutions complement Siemens Logistics' Baggage Management System, Baggage 360, and will be presented for the first time at the trade fair as a tailored offering, also for mid-sized and regional airports.
In addition to artificial intelligence (AI), the new Bag Finder app also uses augmented reality to scan multiple bag tags simultaneously when searching for and checking baggage status, significantly reducing the effort required to find specific pieces.
Flexible Early Bag Store
In Madrid, Siemens Logistics will introduce a flexible and space-saving early bag store (EBS) system that intelligently integrates robotics and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs). VarioStore Flex is a world first that allows for custom, modular layouts and can be used with both ICS and belt systems. The new EBS is ideal for smaller spaces, and in places with low ceiling heights or other structural and operational restrictions.
Innovative Energy Management and New Service Concepts
Visitors to the Siemens Logistics booth in Hall 9 will also have the opportunity to learn more about the company's Service 4.0 portfolio and the latest SmartService 360 Energy solution. This energy management application allows customers to capture key metrics on the energy consumption of each component of their baggage handling system (BHS) and to optimize the system accordingly. Additionally, the CO2 footprint related to the transport of a single piece of luggage within the BHS can be made clearly visible.
New to Siemens Logistics' service portfolio is Obsolescence Management as a Service. The service solution makes it possible to track a component status in a system throughout its lifecycle and prepare for its inevitable obsolescence – allowing customers to focus on their core business. Thanks to the transparency and predictability provided, customers can ensure the availability and operational reliability of their system throughout its expected lifecycle.
