The group of companies around the Kaufbeuren-based family-owned company Sensor-Technik-Wiedemann (STW) has undergone an organisational change with a transfer to the next generation. Along with the sister company Kaufbeurer Mikrosysteme Wiedemann (KMW), the group's 30-year story continues apace under the umbrella of Wiedemann Holding GmbH & Co. KG. The daughter of the company's founder, Sonja Wiedemann, who has been managing director of the Wiedemann Group since 2013, is now the majority shareholder in the holding company.
Katharina and Wolfgang Wiedemann founded STW in 1985. The company began with the development and manufacture of pressure measuring systems and soon expanded into the development of electronic controls for mobile machines. KMW, founded in 1994, specialises in producing thin-layer pressure cells.
Today, the companies' wider portfolio includes electronic products and software solutions for the automation, digitisation and electrification of mobile machinery as well as special solutions for industrial applications and mechanical engineering.

Sonja Wiedemann takes over the majority stakehold in the family group
With over 500 employees and a turnover of more than €80 million in 2018, the group of companies has become one of southern Germany's most successful medium-sized enterprises. Through its focus on long-term socially and economically relevant ideas such as the Internet of Things, autonomous driving and e-mobility, Wiedemann continues to be on a stable, reliable growth course.
STW solutions, for example, continues to bring to life complex agricultural, construction and municipal machinery, enable fuel cell vehicles to be safely refuelled, monitor exhaust after-treatment systems in public transport and push for the rolling out of electric vehicles alongside the development of a sustainable charging infrastructure.
In 2018, the majority of company shares was overwritten to managing director Sonja Wiedemann. The company founder Wolfgang Wiedemann then took over the chair of the Wiedemann Holding advisory board. Chairman of the Advisory Board until the end of 2018, Werner Sill, will go on to join the management team of the holding company and manage the business with Sonja Wiedemann.
It has now been ensured that the company will continue to be run as a family business whilst retaining a strong link between management and employees to achieve shared success.
The company's founders Katharina and Wolfgang Wiedemann will continue with a minority stake in the group. They will continue to work in an advisory capacity within the group in the future as well continuing their charitable and volunteer work.
