W. Gessmann GmbH and Innok Robotics GmbH have formed a pioneering partnership to demonstrate how autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) can be seamlessly integrated into both indoor and outdoor environments. Under the shared motto "Bridging the Gap Between Outdoor and Indoor," both companies are combining their expertise to provide automated logistics solutions for a wide range of applications.

Compact and versatile: Alwin Ehrensperger and Steffen Kuhnle from W. Gessmann, together with Nikolas Rössler and Alwin Heerklotz from Innok Robotics, present the GESSbot – the smart solution for automated indoor intralogistics
Gessmann’s GESSbot is a flexible AMR system with a compact design that, thanks to LiDAR sensor technology, moves safely around people and integrates easily into existing environments. With modular and customisable configurations—such as roller conveyors, cart transporters, lifting systems, shelving units, pallet handlers, or cobots for pick-and-place tasks—the GESSbot is perfectly suited to the needs of modern intralogistics.
A perfect complement to the GESSbot is Innok Robotics’ INDUROS. This outdoor AMR, developed by the specialist in rugged terrain robotics, features a robust design, hybrid navigation, 2D/3D sensor technology, and intuitive task management. Capable of transporting loads of up to 1.3 tons across challenging outdoor terrain, the INDUROS handles ramps, changing weather conditions, and uneven surfaces with ease. Together, the two systems form a seamless end-to-end automation solution that connects indoor and outdoor areas. Transport across thresholds and between production halls and outdoor storage zones is fully automated and supported by an integrated control system. Various handoff methods are possible— such as trolleys, load carriers, or parts being autonomously exchanged between the GESSbot and INDUROS. Compatible software interfaces allow unified fleet management and continuous monitoring.
Customers benefit from fully automated end-to-end processes—from indoor storage to outdoor distribution. By deploying AMRs in their respective areas of specialisation, efficiency is increased, manual transfers are reduced, and 24/7 operation becomes possible.
“We are closing the gap between automated indoor intralogistics and outdoor transport—together, we're creating seamless end-to-end processes,” says Steffen Kuhnle, Head of Robotics at Gessmann. Both companies will showcase their solutions at automatica 2025 in Munich from 24 to 27 June. The GESSbot will be featured at the Gessmann booth 210 in Hall B4, while the INDUROS will be presented at the Innok booth 411.
