Europe's biggest battery technology conference, the Battery Experts Forum, took place from the 10th to 12th April 2019 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and saw record numbers of attendees - doubling since the previous year.
The exhibition itself also grew by around 60% in terms of the number of companies exhibiting, swelling the physical size of the event threefold. Some of the world's leading companies in the batteries were in attendance including LG Chem, Murata, Samsung, Panasonic and BYD. The event covered every aspect of the industry from cell and battery manufacturers, design teams, production and manufacture solutions, materials and components, and also companies tackling the environmental issues such as recycling and the circular economy.
In the space outside the venue, there were test demonstrations of several electric vehicles. These included the e-bikes from ZEG and Rotwild, Metz's e-scooter, and larger EVs like the Solaris electric bus and ACM City Taxi.
Presentations at the conference were more extended and more diverse than previous years with six parallel sessions at any one time during the three day event.
There was also a press conference where journalists could meet and ask questions to experts such as Prof. Dr. Günther Schuh and Sven Bauer on the idea of building a German cell manufacturing sector.
The date of Battery Experts Forum 2020 is set to be announced shortly.
