UK-based independent upstream oil and gas company Serica Energy has become the first operator in the North Sea to digitise safety following a deal to adopt the Restrata Platform - an innovative piece of tech that offers real-time monitoring of people and assets globally.
The contract signed by Serica - described as a rising star in the North Sea - will see the Restrata Platform rolled out on its Bruce asset, in the UK Northern North Sea.
Restrata, which has been providing emergency response support to Serica over the past year, developed its platform in order to boost safety of personnel and broader operations. The technology and services company focuses its operations on security, safety and emergency response solutions.
Serica Energy CEO Mitch Flegg said: "Paramount in all that we do is Serica's respect for the safety and wellbeing of our crew when they are offshore, so we are delighted to harness the positive power of the new technology in the Restrata Platform product to further enhance the efficiency of our safety in operation."
"Our team will work with Restrata to commence the roll out of the technology and integrate our operating procedures, specific to Bruce. This collaboration is absolutely in step with Serica's vision of using technology to help our team to work smarter, and be safer."
The Restrata Platform was designed to enable operators to safeguard the operational safety of employees and locate them quickly in the case of an emergency situation. This allows for a more efficient and rapid response, helping companies across the energy and industrial sectors improve worker safety and providing peace of mind to clients.
Restrata CEO Botan Osman said: "We have been providing outsourced emergency response in North Sea for the past eight years. We firmly believe in the digital transformation of safety, and the Restrata Platform enables to deliver this transformation to energy firms around the world. We are proud that Serica Energy, who have been a client over the past year, will be the first to adopt the Restrata Platform. The North Sea was the birthplace of a new era of safety standards, and we now want to make it the leader of digital safety."
"The Restrata Platform will enable the Serica Energy team to quickly access real time information about their personnel on board, as well as its assets, assuring their safety and providing operational efficiencies," he added.
Restrata's Aberdeen-based Global Command Centre will host the technology, allowing the full range of support services to be available to Platform clients during an incident.
