Prysmian, a global market leader in energy and telecommunication cables and systems, prints extrusion products at its plant in Neustadt near Coburg, Germany, with solutions from LEIBINGER. Working in close collaboration, the two companies found a special white ink that adheres securely and reliably to a wide range of materials used in Prysmian’s cable production.

Wanted: One ink for many substrate materials
At its factory near Coburg, Prysmian manufactures special cables for industrial applications from materials such as rubber, PVC, ETFE, XLPE and polyurethane. Permanently coding and marking all these materials is a challenge. “With LEIBINGER, we have found an ideal partner, especially as the company has been developing and producing its own inks for several years now,” explains Andreas Bachmann, Senior Manager Process Engineering at Prysmian in Neustadt.
Reliable and low-maintenance in the production process
Be it to print simple numbers on leads or complex texts on the cables’ sheath surface, Prysmian requires an ink that adheres well to different materials. They found it in LEIBINGER’s extensive ink portfolio. The printer used is the JET3up PI, which LEIBINGER developed specifically for high-contrast printing on dark surfaces. Andreas Bachmann is very impressed with the solution: “The LEIBINGER printers have proven to be extremely reliable and very low-maintenance in the production process.”
