Construction materials company LafargeHolcim will be collaborating with energy tech firm Schlumberger on large-scale carbon capture technology as the company looks towards net-zero emissions.

Carbon capture technology is essential in the energy transition from fossil fuels.
The two companies will assess the feasibility of capturing carbon from two of Lafarge's major cement plants, based in North America and Europe, using Schlumberger's carbon sequestering technology.

The partnership paves the way for the two companies to make waves in carbon solutions.
Carbon capture is the process by which waste carbon dioxide is collected then stored to stop it from entering the atmosphere.
It is considered an essential technology in the energy transition, as companies look to achieve carbon-neutrality, and, in some cases, carbon-negativity.
The collaboration is a step towards developing a blueprint for large-scale deployment of carbon capture and storage solutions within various transformational industries.
Schlumberger New Energy is partnering with leaders in a range of strategic sectors to demonstrate carbon solutions across a wide range of projects and Lafarge is piloting more than 20 carbon capture projects across Europe and North America to identify the most promising ventures with scale-up potential.

Carbon capture is just part of the technology Schlumberger are involved in.
They also have ventures in hydrogen, lithium, geothermal power and geo-energy for heating and cooling buildings.
