Makino is a global manufacturer of high-precision metal-cutting and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) machines, serving customers in the automotive, aerospace, and semiconductor industries. To support growing demand in Southeast Asia, the company established a new manufacturing facility in Hung Yen province, near Hanoi, dedicated to producing equipment for the semiconductor sector.
The new facility includes production lines, shipping and staging areas, a showroom, measurement areas and ambient storerooms, each with different material handling requirements.

A tailored mix of cranes across the entire facility
Konecranes supplied a total of 14 cranes designed to support material handling across the facility. The delivery included single girder and double girder overhead cranes, four wall console cranes, a wall-mounted slewing jib crane and a Konecranes KBK workstation suspension crane. Together, these cranes provide lifting capacities from 500 kg to 15 tonnes and spans of up to 17.5 metres, supporting both heavy-duty lifting and precise material handling at workstation level across Makino's manufacturing processes.

Optimized workflow and workstation accessibility
A key element of the solution is the use of wall console cranes operating below overhead cranes. Mounted on horizontal tracks along the wall, these cranes are particularly suited for small, adjacent workstations within the production area.
This configuration allows multiple lifting operations to take place simultaneously at different levels, improving workflow efficiency and enabling precise material handling in confined spaces. The result is greater flexibility and improved accessibility across the production environment.
