A Global Vision for a Resilient and Sustainable Future
ACI is deeply committed to preparing individuals and organizations with the tools and knowledge needed to construct infrastructure that is not only strong and resilient but also sustainable. With priorities rooted in education, technical standards, and resource development, ACI empowers professionals across the globe to meet the challenges of urbanization and environmental responsibility head-on.
Maria Juenger, , president of ACI, articulates the organization's philosophy, stating, “The American Concrete Institute is committed to collaborating and cooperating with other organizations in the concrete and construction industries. The sustainability problems facing the world are massive and working together gives the global concrete community the best chance for success.”
This vision underscores ACI’s mission to contribute to a safer, greener built environment by setting the highest standards in concrete practices.
Transformative Certifications for Professionals
ACI’s certification programs serve as a benchmark for excellence in the concrete industry. By standardizing and verifying professional skills, these programs not only improve individual careers but also ensure consistent quality and safety in concrete design and construction worldwide. With certification programs that cater to a variety of professional roles, ACI plays a pivotal role in enhancing the technical competence of professionals and building trust within the industry.
ACI chapters and their industry partners sponsor certification programs to help individuals improve their knowledge and skills so they can advance their careers. Currently, 135 chapters and sponsoring groups in 30 countries offer 32 certification programs. Together, ACI and its partners administer about 45,000 exams annually.
Key Certifications Available Globally
ACI offers a diverse range of certifications aimed at addressing the varying needs of the industry. A few of these include:
- Concrete Flatwork Technicians and Finishers: Focused on achieving high-quality flat concrete surfaces.
- Adhesive Anchor Installers and Inspectors: Critical for the proper installation and inspection of adhesive anchors in construction.
- Concrete Construction Inspectors: Ensuring construction projects meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Quality Management and Materials Testing Certifications: Promoting accuracy and reliability in concrete testing and management practices.
A total of over 30 certification programs globally are currently available.
ACI also collaborates with the Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT) to provide the following certifications based on European Standards (EN).
- ACI-ICT EN Standards Concrete Field Testing Technician certification
- ACI-ICT EN Standards Concrete Compressive Strength Testing Technician certification
The ACI-ICT EN Standards Concrete Field Testing Technician certification is earned by demonstrating the technical knowledge and ability to properly perform and record the results of seven basic field tests on freshly mixed concrete. Then, with the ACI-ICT EN Standards Concrete Compressive Strength Testing Technician certification, it is necessary to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of three basic laboratory procedures related to the determination of concrete compressive strength.
These globally recognized programs are designed to ensure precision and consistency in concrete testing, aligning with international best practices.

Building Communities Through Chapters
ACI’s local chapters play an essential role in fostering regional connections among concrete professionals. These chapters—spanning countries from France, Greece, Italy to Türkiye —serve as hubs for professional development, offering activities such as educational seminars, conventions, project awards, and social events – creating a vibrant concrete community. Chapters also sponsor certification programs to help individuals improve their knowledge and skills so they can advance their careers.
By advancing concrete knowledge, research, and practical applications, these chapters help strengthen the foundation of the industry. ACI chapters provide a critical public service—to promote and improve technology, technical competence, design and construction for the benefit of society.

Supporting the Next Generation
ACI is deeply invested in nurturing the next generation of industry leaders through partnerships with educational institutions. Student chapters provide opportunities for students to engage with the industry through hands-on learning, competitions, and mentorship programs. These initiatives aim to inspire young engineers, architects, and contractors, preparing them to lead the future of concrete construction with innovation and expertise.
Many ACI chapters sponsor student chapters at universities, colleges, technical and trade schools, including at educational institutions in Italy and Türkiye. Students can participate in learning and networking activities as well competitions to get the most out of their education and make valuable connections in the industry. Student membership is free.
Innovating for Sustainability
Sustainability is a pressing focus for the concrete industry, and ACI is leading the charge with groundbreaking initiatives. One of its latest achievements is the publication of ACI CODE-323-24: Low-Carbon Concrete—Code Requirements and Commentary, which provides actionable guidelines for producing reduced-carbon concrete. This innovative code helps reduce the environmental impact of concrete production while maintaining the high safety and performance standards required for modern infrastructure.
ACI’s dedication to sustainability reflects its broader mission of ensuring that the concrete industry evolves responsibly, balancing the needs of today with those of future generations.
Enhancing Knowledge Through Events
To promote innovation and knowledge exchange, ACI works with local chapters and other entities to organize a wide array of international conferences, workshops, and conventions. One such event is the ACI 24 Hours of Concrete Knowledge, a global virtual conference bringing together experts from around the world to share insights, research, and trends shaping the future of the industry. This free virtual event brings together 24 ACI chapters and partners from around the world to co-host, moderate and engage concrete experts from their region. The ACI Paris and Italy chapters, along with ICT and the Spanish Association of Structural Engineering, are among those that have participated in the conference, which takes place annually in July. These events foster collaboration and inspire advancements, ensuring continuous progress in concrete science and application.
