Minth Automotive Europe has broken ground on a new manufacturing plant in Lozinca, Serbia. The €100-million factory, which will make aluminium car parts, is set to employ 300 workers at first, with another 700 hired at a later date.
The ceremony marking the beginning of construction was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who was keen to pay homage to the benefits that Chinese investment would have for the Lozinca region and for Serbia as a whole.
The ceremony was also attended by Director of Minth Automotive Europe, Ching Li Wong, Mayor of Loznica, Vidoje Petrovic and the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, Ms Chen Bo.
Mr Vucic said that the factory would be a turning point in the development of the city and said that he hoped that, when deciding where to build their new plant, Volkswagen would bear in mind the increasing number of auto parts manufacturers present in the country.
The president underlined that Minth is crucial for the development of Loznica.
"For the last 30 years, we have only survived here without major factories that had been devastated. For the first time, we bring investors and build a new future for Loznica. Whether somebody wants to admit it or not - that's reality, that's what's correct," he underlined.
Minth has factories in more than 30 locations worldwide including in China, Mexico and Thailand and exports its products across the world.
