The Chemicals Business of India's Uflex has announced the completion of a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety Evaluation resulting in the awarding of ISO 45001:2018.
The ISO is an internationally recognised Quality Management Standard and ISO 45001:2018 pertains to the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases.
A statement from the Chemical's Business of Uflex said: "This certification further illustrates the commitment of Chemicals Business to continual growth, improving the health and safety of its employees, reducing occupational hazards and ensuring the best Quality Work Life."
ISO 45001 is a new occupational health and safety standard that has added further details to the clauses relating to results documentation, employee involvement expectations, programme effectiveness, risk evaluation and the way in which safety issues have an impact on all stakeholders including employees, outsource operations, contractors and vendors.
The new ISO standard outlines specifications for formal, systematic analysis and risk management, regulatory compliance, occupational health, safety, and best practice. By taking a systematic approach, there is far less risk of employee injury and other such incidents in the workplace, which ultimately leads to fewer disruptions.
Rajesh Bhasin, Jt. President, Chemicals Business at Uflex Ltd. commented: “It is our prime responsibility to continuously improve health and safety standards in our plants and workplaces that allows our employees to stay healthy, safe and productive. ISO 45001:2018 will help our business to achieve the intended outcomes of its OH&S management.”
