Known as WGC BREF, the IED’s Best Available Techniques (BAT) initiative will be coming into force on 12 December 2026.
David Galvez, Application Manager Heavy Industries, ENVEA explains what this means for businesses: “The upcoming changes to IED BAT regulations must be taken seriously. Non-compliance risks operational shutdowns and costly penalties of up to 3% of a company’s annual turnover. By taking swift action, and choosing a partner with a proven track record in IED installations and regulatory understanding, these dangers can potentially be avoided.”
WGC BREF: What companies need to know
As industry and regulatory experts with a proven track record in chemical activities, ENVEA has put together a free WGC BREF fact sheet to guide customers through the changes.
The document outlines the new rules and thresholds, and describes which chemical activities are affected, whilst explaining how to achieve compliance.
Application Manager David Galvez adds: “The WGC BREF changes are a great opportunity for operators and manufacturers to build trust with stakeholders and customers. Communicating with transparency, using credible and verified data, helps to boost an organizations integrity and ensure it remains compliant.”
The WGC BREF compliance deadline is December 2026. For more information, download the ENVEA guide or visit: https://campaign.envea.global/chemical-bref/
