The European chemical association Cefic has welcomed the European Commission’s guidelines on ‘Green Lanes’ to secure EU cross-border freight transport and guarantee supply chains of essential goods during the coronavirus outbreak.

EU chemical industry helping to keep critical supply chains running
Enabling and transporting supplies of chemicals that are essential for public health, such as biocides for disinfectants and polypropylene fibres for mouth masks, is a key task for the chemical industry right now.
Last week Cefic sent an open letter to the European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen with a number of key suggestions from logistic experts to quickly allow easier and faster transport of essential goods throughout Europe.
Marco Mensink, Cefic Director General said: “Cefic is working with relevant EU and Member State authorities to ensure essential substances can be moved swiftly across the EU, despite border closures, to prevent shortages of critical supplies.”
Cefic has said that it will continue to work with all relevant parties to support the chemical industry’s contribution to the battle against the spread of Covid-19.
