Roberts Bakery has newly announced that it has developed packaging for its bloomer range which by replacing the plastic window with PET, has been made 100 percent recyclable.
Despite most of Roberts' plastic on many of its wrapped bread products is recyclable, few local authorities collect it as part of its services, leading consumers to take it to recycling points in supermarkets to be recycled alongside plastic carrier bags.
The bloomer packaging was 85 percent recyclable when it was originally introduced to supermarket shelves last year but now, by replacing the polypropylene plastic window with PET, it has been made 100 percent recyclable.

Products that will be wrapped in the new 100 percent recyclable packaging include: Heroic Wholemeal, Wonderous White and Seriously Seeded which will be launched in supermarkets next month.
The company explained that this was the first step in making all of its packaging 100 percent recyclable or compostable.
Roberts managing director Stuart Spencer-Calnan commented: “We’re passionate and committed to not only doing our bit to help everyone live more sustainably, but also ensuring we are true to our ethos. This means being relevant and meeting the needs of our millennial consumers, to whom sustainability is a very important and impassionate issue.”
