Basically revised in terms of content and with a new design, Leitz publishes the Leitz Lexicon in the seventh edition by end of this year. For the first time in its history, the Leitz Lexicon is not published in bound form but as a ring binder with corresponding individual chapters on various product sectors. It is available in German and English language.
The new Leitz Lexicon, with a wealth of technological information, a clear structure and its high level of clarity, is the top reference work of the Leitz full product range. Referring to the handling and the optimized overview of the product sectors and individual chapters, it mainly meets customer requirements and consequently is far more user-friendly. Moreover, about 1,700 new products and product variants have been added to the seventh edition of the Leitz Lexicon.
In the chapter “Sawing”, the product programme mainly has been designed as per customer requirements in sectors such as noise reduction, life time increase, larger resharpening areas and improved cutting quality. The objective of the optimized or partly newly developed products always is to obtain the highest level of efficiency referring the processing of various working materials.

In the chapter “Panel processing”, the WhisperCut jointing cutter programme considerably has been expanded by the inclusion of further dimensions. Also newly added are tools of the EdgeExpert design, the compact hogger DT PLUS presented on the Ligna as well as crosscut sawblades of the “LowNoise” design. Adjustable edge processing tools for quick profile change are completing the standard programme. The clear presentation of the respective processes in the panel processing is outstanding. The schedules are of great help to find the correct tool for the respective use.
The chapter “Planing and Profiling” has been revised by the inclusion of the HeliPlan planerhead system for the use in high speed planing units as well as Hydro planerheads with exchangeable sleeve and coated tool body.
Also the programme in the chapter “Manual feed” has been user-orientedly revised and completed by the product highlights HeliCut and ProfilCut Q. Moreover, the complete system model range ProfilCut Q, including the diamond tipped version, has been added to the chapter “Profile tooling systems” as an expansion to the existing systems.
In the chapter “Routing”, the structure has been redesigned. In the tool sector, the programme has been expanded by additional diamond shank cutters. Furthermore, all application recommendations have been revised and updated in this sector.
Since the first edition in the 1980s, the Leitz Lexicon in the meantime is the standard reference work in the tool industry and in processing industries of solid wood, wood derived materials and plastics. The chapter “User encyclopedia” includes a lot of valuable information and cutting knowledge, materials science, machine know-how or process-oriented use of tools. Therefore, the Leitz Lexicon is a renowned teaching material at vocational- and technical schools for apprenticeship and further training.
