Glass reinforced plastic (GRP) specialists HOBAS and Amiantit Europe have merged their European business activities to form a joint venture (JV) known as Amiblu.
As Amiblu, the two once-competing companies will combine their strengths to provide sustainable GRP pipeline network solutions across infrastructure and industrial applications in the water, irrigation, wastewater, hydropower and industrial plant sectors.
Both businesses provide alternatives to traditional pipe materials, offering composite technology with increased efficiency and service life, while reducing corrosion and leakage issues.
With many important infrastructure projects planned over the next five years in Europe, Amiblu will be able to support the market and utilise the opportunity to introduce more GRP-based solutions as the best value on the market.

“Water is a precious resource, fundamental to life. At Amiblu we believe we can better manage this resource without increasing investment rates,” said Amiblu CEO Nick Crofts.
“We can offer solutions to wastage, pollution, disruption and inefficiency of pipeline systems today whilst saving capital and operating costs.”
Discussing the potential opportunity for further expansion into the international marketplace, Amiblu International CCO Claus Brun said, “The technological leadership of Amiblu within GRP water solutions gives us a stronger platform for further international growth, for instance in Asia, Latin America and Africa.
“We have high growth ambitions and are looking forward to taking on the competition with other technical solutions around the world.”
The JV will be headquartered in Klagenfurt, Austria.
