The Italy-based WASP Project, which is focused on the development of sustainable 3D printing technologies using materials such as clay, ceramics and porcelain, has announced its new Clay Line to be unveiled at the Technology Hub in Milan (Fieramilanocity, from 17 to 19 May).
During the event, visitors can find out about the latest and most innovative 3D printers in a range of sizes, designed to be used with any kind of Liquid Deposition Modeling (LDM) mixtures. Innovations showcased will include: the latest designs, new linear sliders, dedicated firmware, simplified tank feeding systems and prints up to 1 metre in height.
We have written before in Industry Europe about WASP’s innovative use of sustainable materials to 3D print houses on-site. Now, at the WASP Technology Hub stand, visitors will be able to get a first-hand look at the much-appreciated DeltaWASP 3MT – an industrial printer that can use both moulded filament technology and granules, and is capable of ‘high-speed’ execution.

WASP’s 3D printing has now moved beyond prototyping to the creation of products. It is capable of printing large objects such as statues and furnishing accessories. It can even be used to create theatre scenery, as was evidenced in the Fra Diavolo Opera at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, as well as the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
Massimo Moretti summarises the concept, stating: "We have gone from prototyping to digital manufacturing."
Finally, when it comes to materials, WASP is absolutely in line with the times. Its machines can print technical materials such as ABS, HIPS, PETG, PA carbon, etc. There is no need to change the printer, just assemble the appropriate extruder.
