According to a report by industry analysts EV-Volumes, there are now more than one million electric cars on the road in Europe.
Furthermore, total cumulative sales are projected to reach 1.35 million by year-end, including fully electric cars and vans, as well as plug-in hybrid models.
This is following news that sales grew by more than 40% in the first half of the year. Between January and June 2018, as reported in the Guardian, around 195,000 plug-in cars were sold across the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Of these, Norway leads the way, with 36,500 sales and a 37% share of new registrations. But Germany is expected to overtake Norway by the end of the year owing to rapid growth in this market.
This milestone comes behind China, which sold its first million EVs last year, but ahead of the US which is expected to reach the same milestone later this year thanks to the demand for Tesla’s EV model.
