Verkor signs strategic partnership with Plastic Omnium

French battery maker Verkor is partnering with automotive supplier Plastic Omnium to develop, manufacture and commercialise battery modules and parts using Verkor cells.

Starting in 2025, Plastic Omnium will have preferred access to an initial volume of at least 4 GWh per year from Verkor’s manufacturing site in Dunkirk in the north of France, a press release reads.

The partnership will focus on the high-growth, clean mobility markets of personal and light commercial vehicles under three tonnes, and semi heavy-duty vehicles under 16 tonnes and will be open to opportunities in stationary storage applications.

In addition to the partnership, Plastic Omnium announced that it is investing €20 million in Verkor. The move will allow Verkor to expand its presence across what are strategic growth markets for both companies.
