DPD's growing electric van fleet to be powered by EV app Bonnet
With fears being raised over a lack of available EV charging to allow for a smooth transition away from fossil fuels, one of the UK's top parcel delivery firms has partnered with an app to power its fleets of electric vans.
Courier firm DPD has announced a partnership with Bonnet, an aggregate app for EV charging, to help the former deliver on its promise to become the "UK's most sustainable delivery company" - a vital step in its reducing air pollution.

According to its website, Bonnet currently hosts a network of over 2,400 charging stations in the UK, and its mission is to increase the accessibility of charging to the public.
Connecting more than 17 of the best charging networks in Europe, with more being added constantly, the company currently covers over 65,000 charging points in countries including the Netherlands, the UK, France, Germany and Sweden.
Founded in 2020, the concept of the firm is to provide simplicity for EV users.
DPD has what it describes as an "ambitious growth and investment plan", having made plans to implement 3,000 electric vehicles on Britain's roads this year, increasing to 5,000 by 2023.

DPD already has a fleet of over 1,700 electric vans in the UK. By 2023, it hopes to be delivering to 30 towns and cities using all-electric vehicles.
It opened the first all-electric parcel depot in Westminster in 2018. In 2021, Oxford became its first "all-electric city", with it only operating EV fleets in the city.

“We are delighted to add Bonnet to our all-electric programme. The app will complement our own charging infrastructure and help our EV drivers access the public charging network in a timely and efficient way, whenever they need it", DPD's Head of Sustainability Olly Craughan said.
"We are racing ahead with the decarbonisation of our delivery fleet. Within the next 18 months, we will go from 10 UK towns and cities served by an all-electric DPD fleet, to 30, and more than double our EV fleet. Bonnet will help us keep those vans moving and delivering clean and green for customers".
