Bosch to open engineering centre in Bulgaria

German automotive components and consumer goods group Bosch as announced that it is to open an engineering centre in Bulgaria, in the capital, Sofia.

The new centre will around around 200 people and will be focused on the development on innovative software for the automotive industry, said the company in a statement.

"This investment is part of the dynamic development of Bosch's software business in Bulgaria," Konstantin Konov, managing director of the new centre, said.

The Sofia centre will cooperate closely with Bosch engineering centres in neighbouring Romania and Hungary and other automotive companies.

In a separate statement, the Bulgarian government said that the new Bosch engineering centre would create over 500 jobs by 2023.

In 2018, Bosch grew its sales in Bulgaria by 19% to €104-million.
