Universal Robots launches SME Automation Month for October

by

Universal Robots, the Danish robotics company most famous for their collaborative robots (cobots) have announced they are declaring the month of October "SME Automation Month" to raise awareness for small and medium-sized businesses struggling to overcome many of the barriers associated with the adoption of automation.

They have set the event up to allow these SMEs to use UR's cobot technology to help get their businesses up and running in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

They claim greater adoption of automation is critical British and Irish industry to support jobs by ensuring they are competitive, efficient and flexible enough to thrive.

Many smaller companies report they still feel ill-equipped to handle automation, and so UR has set up several specialist resources, leasing options and practical examples on how to successfully make the leap to automation integration.

These include:

  1. Free Automation Assessments - the ability to connect with experts who can analyse existing operations and details where the cobots can optimise production, efficiency and output.
  2. New Leasing Terms - Pricing for the cobots, which start at £300 per month. Also introduces a 'buy now, pay later' scheme, allowing SMEs to improve bottom like and offsetting future costs.
  3. Easy training - offers training in cobot programming in a short course that lasts 2-4 days.
  4. Quick, painless setup - Instructs on how to set up cobots, which are designed to be quickly and easily set up in around 30 minutes.

On top of this, UR will be hosting a webinar on October 7, designed specifically to tackle popular and pervasive issues faced by companies looking to embrace automation.

They hope this will allow companies to innovate in the face of uncertain markets.

Universal Robots were among the UK's leaders in encouraging innovation and automation during the coronavirus pandemic, particularly when it came to encouraging and helping the industry shift its production towards stemming the spread of the virus.

Mark Gray, Universal Robots Country Manager for the UK and Ireland, said: "During these uncertain times, SMEs are understandably reluctant to invest in new technologies, but with cobots, smaller businesses can see the benefits almost immediately.

"We've seen customers such as Bloom in a Box use cobots to adapt quickly to Covid, and switch their production line from packing flowers to manufacturing PPE. Whether a business wants to improve existing operations or quickly adapt to a new market opportunity, it really is that simple for them to be flexible and stay profitable with cobots in place."
