Infinite Power signs power agreement with Framatome and Marubeni

British electricity firm Infinite Power has signed a power supply agreement with Japan's Marubeni Group and France's Framatome to supply power for use in nuclear energy stations.

They have developed a power cell that works in a similar way to solar cells but converts radiation from a radioisotope into electricity instead of the sun's heat.

Earlier this month, the corporation signed an agreement with Marubeni's Nuclear Fuel Department for Japan, who will aid them in finding a market for their power cells.

The agreement with nuclear tech company Framatome is for Infinite Power to supply uninterruptable energy to nuclear power facilities, waste depots and transport applications in extreme conditions.

Infinite Power CEO Robert McLeod, said: "This represents another key application of our unique power technology. Providing uninterruptible power in extreme conditions is a powerful selling point for our technology."
