Novio Packaging Group acquired by Berlin Packaging

Berlin Packaging has completed the acquisition of Netherlands-based plastic packaging supplier Novio Packaging Group, which specialises in personal care, pharmaceutical, food, and sports nutrition.

The Novio acquisition complements Berlin Packaging's portfolio of European companies, which comprises speciality glass manufacturer Bruni Glass, closure company Bruni Erben, as well as the Netherlands' Vincap & Adolfse, France's Verrerie Calvet and two other companies that it acquired throughout 2019, creating the first packaging supplier for all markets and substrates on the continent.

Novio's customers will draw on Berlin's expertise and design studios across two continents, while Berlin's customers are able to leverage Novio's strong footprint across Europe, as well as its expansive plastic offering and know-how.

Michael Grebe, Executive Chairman of the Board of Berlin Packaging, said: “As with our company, Novio Packaging’s strong performance is a testament to their creative solutions, strong supply chain, and emphasis on exceptional customer service. By combining the strengths of both companies, this acquisition helps us meet our high growth goals and solidifies our position as the largest, most comprehensive, and most customer-focused rigid packaging supplier on two continents.”

In a joint statement, Novio Packaging co-founders Erik Trum and Marck Jansen added: “We are excited to become part of the Berlin Packaging family and to embrace our new colleagues. We are proud of what we have built, and we know this new partnership will bring much more opportunity for our customers, suppliers and employees.”

All employees and locations are being retained. Novio Packaging’s leadership, including Jansen and Trum, are continuing in their roles.
