Operations are underway at Egger Group's state-of-the-art chipboard production plant in for furniture manufacturing in Biskupiec, Poland. The new 650,000 m³ facility will be Egger's 19th worldwide and the Group's first in Poland.

With a total investment of €440m, the facility has created 400 direct and 600 indirect jobs in the region and hopes to fill the demand fuelled by rising chipboard import in Poland, one of the world's largest furniture producing countries.

“I am delighted that we have started production at our Egger Biskupiec plant, and together with our management and staff we are honoured to become an important supplier to the Polish furniture industry. We’ve been active in Poland since the early 1990s, and are successfully working with more than 150 local customers”, said Michael Egger, the co-owner of the company. “We are also proud to contribute to local development in Warmia-Masuria region by offering almost 1,000 jobs during the construction and now, when operating.”

The Egger Biskupiec plant was designed and built according to European Union 'Best Available Techniques' regulation, which calls for use of the best available technology to prevent or minimise emissions and environmental impact. In a statement, Egger said that the modern facilities would utilise the latest production technology and environmental understanding to make Egger products.

The plant has production lines for raw and laminated chipboard which are now being started up. When fully operational, the production capacity will be an annual 650,000 cubic metres of raw chipboard, including a large portion which will be finished with decorative elements.
