China's Haier to invest €50m in Romanian fridge factory

Chinese home appliance manufacturer Haier Group has announced that it will invest over €50-million in a refrigerator manufacturing facility in Prahova, Romania, local media has reported.

Located in Aricestii Rahtivani, the factory is set create over 500 jobs in the local area, according to business daily Ziarul Financiar.

The factory will have a maximum annual production capacity of 600,000 refrigerators.

Haier Group, headquartered in Qingdao, China, designs, manufactures and sells a range of home appliances including refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, microwave ovens, mobile phones, computers and TVs. 

It has over 65,000 employees working in 24 factories and five research centres worldwide.
