Vinci wins €500m German road contract

Construction company Vinci has been awarded a €500 million contract to deliver Germany’s first-ever public-private partnership (PPP)-built federal - the B247 highway.

The 22km-long road is to be located in the German state of Thuringia, with Vinci Concessions responsible for its operation and maintenance for a 30-year period.

The construction phase of the motorway – located in the centrally-located state of Thuringia – is worth a total of approximately €350 million, including an additional 6km of crossing sections.

Vinci says construction work will continue for about four years, and be undertaken by its subsidiary companies Eurovia Deutschland and Vinci Construction Terrassement.

The company adds that the road construction will include 30% recycled and reused asphalt and 100% recycled concrete, which will be taken from the existing section.

The new contract is the fifth PPP project won by Vinci in Germany, which now employs more than 15,000 in the country.

Vinci, a major group active in concessions, construction and energy that operates in nearly 120 countries, was established as a brand in 2000. Since then, the Group has significantly expanded its expertise and today is a banner bringing together 3,200 companies and 211,233 employees on all continents.
