Fininc & Sacyr awarded Italian roadbuilding contract

The SIS consortium, which is 51% owned by Italian holding company Fininc and 49% by Spanish construction firm Sacyr, has been awarded a roadbuilding contract worth €388 million in the northern Italian province of Como.

The 9.5km bypass will create an alternative route to circumvent traffic in the towns of Sala Comacina and Tremezzina.

The project includes the construction of three 11.6 metre wide tunnels with a combined length of nearly 8 km.

The tunnels will be built primarily through rock, which has resulted in an anticipated five-year project duration.

The SIS consortium is also nearing completion of its work on the €2.6 billion Pedemontana-Veneta highway, one of the largest road infrastructure projects currently underway in Italy.
